Talk To me – Margot Bowman 2012, part of the BT ArtBox Project that celebrate 20 years of Childline, in situ outside of London's Old Vic Theatre . The K6 phonebox (designed in 1935) represents a time when people communicated privately from a fixed position, one-on-one conversation which seem to be so rare.
Now we communicate in an increasingly public and on the-go way: writing on Facebook walls or Tweeting so that our conversations are visible to everyone.
The Margot Bowman K6 will transform the phone box into a social space for those one-on-one conversations to happen again. This time they will be face-toface and stationary. We are lucky to be the digital generation but the MBK6 celebrates what we lack: face time proper. In this post-digital world what happens off line must play to its strengths so the MBK6 uses colour and touch to create a place worth stopping at.
